The Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate program provides graduates with an entryway into the growing Canadian healthcare industry which is experiencing unprecedented government investment, including a recently announced temporary wage increase and a $5,000 Return of Service incentive for PSWs that commit to 6 months in a Long Term Care facility or In-Home Care and Community Care agency.
A Personal Support Worker (PSW) provides assistance in routine living activities such as: mobility, personal care and hygiene, ongoing medical conditions, and the management of household activities. As a trained PSW, you may look after patients in a home, hospital, and/or long-term care facility.
Duration: 31 Weeks

- Clinical work placement in a community and long-term care facility.
- National Association of Career Colleges (NACC) curriculum that maps to the Ontario provincial-approved training standard.
- Classrooms that simulate real-world healthcare setting, including hospital beds, wheelchairs and other required equipment.
- Software subscriptions for Microsoft Office and Windows included in the tuition fee.
- CPR (HCP–Healthcare Provider Level / BLS-Basic Life Support)/First Aid
- Gentle Persuasive Approach Certificate.
- Intramuscular/ Subcutaneous Insulin Administration Certificate.
Career Opportunities
As a PSW, there is flexibility when it comes to choosing your path in the industry. Although a majority of these professionals work for private and not-for-profit home care agencies, others are employed by nursing homes and hospitals. There is also the option to be your own boss and work self-employed.

Program Requirements
Mature Student Status (18+ years of age with successful academic achievement assessment) Clear a police check including a Vulnerable Sector check A clear medical certificate indicating current immunization. Free from communicable diseases Demonstrated fluency in English Completion of a Student Questionnaire to determine suitability for a career as a PSW.

The Second Career strategy launched by the Ontario Ministry of Training, pays for the training or education needed by Ontarians to get a better job. This program provides financial help of up to $28,000 put towards : tuition, books, living allowance, child care, disability support.

Payment Plan
A simple plan may be available that spreads out the costs of your education monthly over the duration of your study period. For students who qualify, a monthly payment plan may be extended beyond the end of your study period. Bad credit and no established credit can often be overcome. We specialize in working with students that have had credit and financial challenges in the past.
Registered Plans
Lifelong Learning Plan
The Lifelong Leaning Plan (LLP) allows you to withdraw money from your RRSPs to finance your education or that of your spouse or common law partner. You can withdraw up to $10,000 per year, up to a total maximum of $20,000.
Registered Education Savings Plans (RESP)
Students who have been named under a family’s Registered Education Savings Plan may use funds from an RESP to cover the costs of education at an eligible post-secondary institution. Complete our form above for more details.
Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB)
If you are a WSIB recipient or a surviving spouse, WSIB may have funding resources for work force re-entry. Contact your case worker about re-training, this will help you to get back into the work force through re-training.

How long does it take to complete a program?
Our programs are tailor made to make the most efficient use of your time.
